Does anyone have any experience with Scrivener (the writers program by
LIterature and Latte)?

Foxtrot will index a Scrivener file (*.scriv) and show that a particular
string is present. But it will not show a preview. The preview pane (on the
right of Foxtrot) just shows the spinning cog indicating that Foxtrot is
attempting to load something but not managing to do so.

This may be due to the complexity of scrivener files (some sort of package
- I'm not a techie so I don't know).

However, the spotlight 'front end' Houdahspot will show a 'text preview'
from inside the Scrivener file and highlight the string.

Is this one of the few instances where spotlight beats Foxtrot?

I'm trying the latest beta (7.0b7 build 2263) but I would stress that this
has always been an issue for me. I'm using Scrivener more and more and so
this problem as risen from the status of 'interesting quirk' to
'substantial irritation'

Best wishes to all in these difficult times

I am able to search Scrivener files. The free preview show a plain-text
version of all the files in the Scriv project, not just the sub-document
with the search string. I’m not sure about the ordering. I only see
the spinning cog as it is rendering the file, but it stops once
rendered.

I get a plain text view in the preview, but a formatted view in the Quicklook. I'm still using v6

FoxTrot may have some trouble using the Quick Look preview for some document types, and this is the case for Scrivener files. We will try to improve this in the final version 7.0.

When the Quick Look preview can't be used, it normally displays a plain text version, but this requires:
1) using FoxTrot Pro
2) and having enabled "store document textual contents" in the configuration pane of the index

The spinning cog may appear if these conditions are not met

des heures sans FoxTrot. Je reçois des demandes telles que : « quelqu’un

trouve aisément la citation même approximée !"

This may indicate a solution. I use Foxtrot pro but have never used the
'store textual contents' in the index. I'll give this a try
