I see no reason for taking longer to start indices.
However, after rebuilding an index, it needs to compact in the background, and maybe this is why you observed this slowness.
Does this still occurs? If so, could you give an estimation of "a lot longer" (i.e. approximate duration before v7.5, and after)?
