Hello,
which email clients are supported for indexing emails by foxtrot search?
I have any technical issue with macOS mail and there is no way how to fix it. Solution is change email client (for example use Mozilla Thunderbird), but I have thousands and thousands emails and I need to use indexing emails and searching on FoxTrot.
So, please, which email clients are supported? Only macOS mail?

FoxTrot supports these email clients:
- Apple Mail
- Microsoft Outlook; we provide 2 predefined locations, depending whether Outlook stores the messages as individual message files, or in a monolithic mailbox file for each mail folder, with a separate Spotlight cache (this probably depends on the version of Outlook)
- Mozilla Thunderbird (as of FoxTrot version 7.5.3 only, currently in beta); Thunderbird should be configured to either enable Spotlight integration, or for best results, we recommend configuring it to store message in individual message files, rather than a monolithic mailbox file for each mail folder. To change this setting in Thunderbird, you'll need to delete your mail accounts, then recreate them.
- MailMate
- maybe other clients that either store messages in individual .eml files, or that provide a Spotlight integration

Hello,
Any email client that supports searching from Spotlight should be indexable from FoxTrot Search. This should guide you in selecting an alternate email client.
Regarding Thunderbird specifically, we have made changes to improve support in the forthcoming 7.5.3 - a beta version is available.
Important: we recommend that before downloading mail into Thunderbird, you configure it to store its messages as individual message files rather than in monolithic Unix Mailbox files. This will produce a better result.
After you have done your message download, launch FoxTrot Pro 7.5.3 beta and you should see an option to index Thunderbird messages.
