Hello,

I'm back with more PDF trouble

I OCRed some PDFs with Foxtrot, but some remained unprocessed. When opening such PDFs with Preview, the text remains unselectable and any search for a word returns no result.

I suppose therefore this is not Foxtrot's fault, but I can't figure out what about those files is peculiar; I checked permissions and all seems fine, and none are locked/password-protected.

Has anyone faced the same issue? I can send a sample PDF if needed.
Thanks.

I have run OCR on such an unrecognizable PDF using OwlOCR (which uses Apple's Vision), and it works just fine... I really don't understand why Preview (or Foxtrot) won't OCR it.
Any tips?

Could someone from the Foxtrot team chime in on this issue? Thanks !

We have noticed this as well, but our implementation is the same as Preview so most likely if Apple fixes that implementation in an OS update it would resolve things for FoxTrot as well. We are not a specialized OCR product, but I'm sure those who are (OwlOCR for instance, which we were not familiar with) can do a better specialized job at this which we can then index, which is our core function in life.

Kind regards,
