In a previous post on this forum, I was told that upgrading from version 7 to 8 would preserve my search history and bookmarks, but this does not seem to be the case.  I really need the upgrade process to be smooth because I don't have another work machine, but sadly Foxtrot actually deleted my saved history and bookmarks when upgrading from version 7 to 8.  Please refer to details below.  My MacOS version is Moneterey.

First Upgrade Attempt

1.  Quit current Foxtrot
2.  Download Foxtrot version 8
3.  Install Foxtrot version 8
4.  Launch Foxtrot version 8

Result:

1.  Foxtrot version 8 is launched, and it's very snappy.
2.  Saved bookmarks, templates, and search history are gone.
3.  Checked {home}/Library/Preferences/com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs, and I can see that the file is replaced with a new one that is significantly smaller.

Attempt to import old preference file

1.  Quit Foxtrot.
2.  Used Timemachine to recover a copy of "com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs" file that was before upgrade installation.
3.  Replace the new version of {home}/Library/Preferences/com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs with the version recovered from Timemachine.
4.  Restart MacOs
5.  Start Foxtrot.

Result:

1.  Foxtrot starts up very slowly (it bounces for a long time before launching), then frequently freezes (Not Responding), and use a lot of CPU.
2.  I try to restart Foxtrot multiple times, and I often get a message prompting me to "Connect to the server My Computer" and ask me for "Name" and "Password".  I don't know which Name and Password it's referring to, and I cannot give it the correct credential.
3.  Sometimes the search indexes are loaded, sometimes not.
4.  The bookmarks and search history are there.  It's just that Foxtrot becomes very unresponsive and often doesn't even load the search index.
5.  I tried to monitor what happen to file {home}/Library/Preferences/com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs as Foxtrot launches/quit, and it looks like this file keep shrinking and growing, as if there's a process that's trying to rebuild it from time to time.

Current Status

1.  Currently, my attempt to upgrade from version 7 to 8 has left me with a non-usable Foxtrot.  I can keep the new "com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs" file, and that would allow Foxtrot to function normally, but all the bookmarks, search history, and templates are gone; OR I can use the older version of that file from TimeMachine, and that would give me back the saved bookmarkts, but then my indexes are not loading consistently and Foxtrot becomes unresponsive.

Please help me upgrade to version 8 and also keep my saved bookmarks and history, because they contain my research workspaces.

Update on my experience with version 8.5

1.  It looks like Foxtrot slow down and become unresponsive when either: (1) Launching Foxtrot (2) Quitting Foxtrot (3) Switching from Foxtrot window to another application window.  In particular, I'm seeing that the file {home}/Library/Preferences/com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs gets rebuilt whenever this happens, because it looks like it gets re-written.
2.  Search index continues to load inconsistently, and it continues to ask login credential for "My Computer".

Downgraded to version 8.0.2

1.  I'm desperate to get Foxtrot working again, so I downgraded from 8.5 to 8.0.2.
2.  Search indexes are loading normally, Foxtrot seems responsive, and saved search history & bookmarks are preserved.
3.  Version 8.0.2 seems to work just fine, and this is what I would expect when I do a normal upgrade.

PLEASE fix whatever is the problem that occurs after version 8.0.2, because I do appreciate some of the value-added features like Compendium, but I cannot use it right now.
