What is this little thing that appears on top of the scrollbar when I mouseover search results? It moves with the mouse, but when I mouseover the scrollbar it disappears. I thought I had a scrap of paper on the monitor.

running Version 8.6.1 build 3235 (Apple Silicon) on Sequoia 15.7.3

It is probably a thumbnail popover that can't be generated correctly (I don't know why). You can disable thumbnail popover from the toolbar.
