We have foxtrot server running on a mac mini (10.10.5) and connecting to a
qnap 16 bay nas to index the 2.5 million files.
The client computers are able to connect to the server to search through
the index but the preview of the files doesn't work.
is there something i'm missing here?
the documentation for this product is pretty much nonexistent.

Sir,
The probable cause for this is a difference in path between how the server sees the NAS volumes when indexing them and how the client machines access them when searching.
If this path is identical and the volume is mounted on the client machines, searched documents get displayed in original form. If the paths don’t match, you can still view the text-only portion of documents.
There is are settings in FoxTrot Search Admin > Manage Indices > Sharing > File Sharing Integration called Shared Folder and Volume Name which enable you to reconcile possible differences. Please experiment with these settings while having access to both the admin application and a typical client Mac mounting the NAS as it would be mounted by Jane Doe.
For further follow-up on this request, rather than this public forum, kindly user the “Send a message to FoxTrot admin support” item from your admin application’s Help menu.
