Is there a setting I need to turn on in order for foxtrot to search
indesign files and return them in the search results? I see other people
referencing indesign files being searchable but they never show up in my
search results, unfortunately.

Hello,

FoxTrot does not acquire text from various document types directly - it relies on various application developers making their document types searchable via Spotlight using Spotlight plug-ins (technically called mdimporters). I do not know if Adobe or any 3rd party application contains an Indesign Spotlight plugin and this is what you would need in order to have Indesign files searchable from FoxTrot. These plugins are the only aspect of the Spotlight architecture we use, searching is done indepently from Spotlight.
