As explained in Apple's website here

and in a number of places
( https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8530825/mac-os-x-add-a-c ustom-meta-data-field-to-any-file),
Mac OS accepts custom metadata.

If you run a command *xattr -w "com.apple.metadata:kMDItemAuthors" "John"
Testfile.html*, the test file will contain an author metadata; "John" as
value. Spotlight, as well as all the other tools using Spotlight's index
(such as HoudahSpot), can correctly search the files by this *author*
field. Foxtrot still marks the Author field "unknown".

Can you support the extended attributes, please?
