As explained on Apple's website
( https://developer.apple.com/legacy/library/documentation/Dar win/Reference/ManPages/man1/xattr.1.html),
and in a number of places
( http://scottlab.ucsc.edu/xtal/wiki/index.php/Extended_Attrib utes), Mac OS
accepts custom metadata.

If you run a command xattr -w "com.apple.metadata:kMDItemAuthors" "John"
Testfile.html, the test file will contain an author metadata; "John" as
value. Spotlight, as well as all the other tools using Spotlight's index
(such as HoudahSpot), can correctly search the files by this author field.
Foxtrot still marks the Author field "unknown".

Can you support the extended attributes, please?

We will consider this in a future version.

Thanks for the suggestion
