Some files won't index even when manually invoking the indexer [message #1869] Thu, 03 October 2024 05:20 Go to previous message

I'm running Version 8.0.3 build 3020 (Apple Silicon) on an M3 Pro Macbook.  Have had previous version of Foxtrot on an older MBP as well.

On both the old and new machine, there are a few files that Foxtrot won't index.  I have tried renaming them, moving them to new directories, and also manually invoking directory indexing via Indexing --> Update Folder in Index --> selecting folders with the files.  Even tried a full reindex with the same results.

For one particular plain text file, I copied it into Mac Pages and that file doesn't index either!

But, I can confirm that other files in those same folders are searchable and the folders are selected in the Foxtrot Settings  --> Files page.  These are normal text, image, and/or media where other files in those formats appear in search.

Oddly, Spotlight finds these files.

I was wondering if there are reserved words or character sequences that Foxtrot does not index?

I did some Forum searching and didn't find anything although I may not have used the optimal search terms...
