Currently, the saved searches are only accessible within Foxtrot, and there's no way to search for them -- not even to search by name.  I use Foxtrot to organize my workspaces, and frequently save 3 or 4 long Foxtrot searches a day.  The problem is I have no way to search through them afterward, and there's no way to export them so that I can organize them outside of Foxtrot.  The consequence is that if I don't act on a Foxtrot search result within a few weeks, that search result is practically buried within Foxtrot and I cannot find it again.  This is one area where HoudahSpot excels at compared to Foxtrot, because saved searches can be stored as a separate file.

Please give us a way to either search through saved searches and history within Foxtrot, or allow us to export the saved searches so that we can organize them outside of Foxtrot.

Not sure how to export the history or bookmark to a useful file format. However, we will add the ability to select some items in the history or bookmarks list, and to use the "copy" menu item to copy their name (as shown in the list) as text. Would this be helpful for your case?

Thanks for replying to this request.  I am not subscribed to this thread so I did not see your response until now.

1.  In my use case, at minimum, I would like to quickly copy the names of ALL my history and bookmark, so that I can search through them and organize them outside of Foxtrot.  Additionally, it would also be good to copy the names of only selected bookmark/history items.
2.  I don't think it's important that the export format needs to be useful in the sense that it's human-readable.  It's fine if the export format is some binary that only Foxtrot could open.  What matters is I have a data object that can "re-open" the original search, and I can organize that data object in folder structures outside of Foxtrot.  For example, if I have a folder called "Research question X", I would like to store a file called "Saved Search on question X" right inside this folder.

I'm asking for this feature (and I've seen another thread asking the same many years ago), because Foxtrot is not just a search tool during research -- it's also an organizational space where we filter and organize contents on an ad-hoc basis.

We will also add the ability to export the selected bookmark or history items to an xml file (same format as in the com.ctmdev.FoxTrotPro.prefs files, in {home}/Library/Preferences, but with just the selected items), that you can import back to a new Bookmarks folder.
