I'm rebuilding an index and the number of files shown in the "progress"
field is significantly different from the number of "Indexed files" shown
below (see attached screen shot). On my other indexes those two numbers are
always the same. Why would they be different for this index? Thanks.

Hello,

Actually this is correct – on one hand, the higher number is the actual number of files whose filename at least have been indexed – in other words, this is the pool of all possible files within your selected folders including those without indexable data.

The second figure, smaller, is those whose content is eligible for indexing.

Kind regards,

Hi-

Now, I'm very concerned. This file consists of only pdfs and MS Word
documents which have been curated specifically for searchability. In
addition, and perhaps more germane, is the fact that this file had been
previously indexed in its entirety. It is being rebuilt because a dialog
suddenly appeared informing me that Fox Trot had unexpectedly crashed and
recommended the indexes be rebuilt. The other indexes which have already
been rebuilt also contained curated files and all were included. It is only
this particular file that exhibits this issue. Would the crash have
corrupted over 25% of the files to the point where they contained no
indexable data?

I don’t know about that, but why don’t you rebuild the entire thing from scratch if you have a doubt ?

Hi- I started rebuilding the entire thing from scratch, as you suggested,
but the number of files being indexed is still about 25% less than the
total. I've already checked both the "resource hogs" list and the
blacklist, but there are no entries in either one. Is there any way I can
find out which files are not being indexed and the reason for each one?
Thanks.
