We are really sorry, version 4.5 took more time than expected to release, and the beta version has now expired. The final version will be available on our servers shortly, but in the meantime, you can use version 4.1, and let it to upgrade to version 4.5 use the FoxTrot / Check for Updates menu. If you don't have version 4.1, you can download it from:

Our apologies

Dear Jérôme

I had the same problem - but when I reloaded v 4.1 the (large) updated
index would not run because it had been built by a later version and so had
to be rebuilt which took all day.

I have now loaded the new version 4.5 and each time I try to load an index
I get the message "Can't connect to the server "My Computer"" - even when
the index is clearly connected. Do I need to rebuild the indices yet again?

This has been a bit frustrating!

Alan

Either reboot your computer, or manually force-quit all FoxTrot background processes (FTStarter, FTFileIndexer, FTProFileIndexer and FTFileCrawler) using Activity Monitor.

FoxTrot should then launch normally.

"Wow, this is an amazing application. I have been looking for a fast
local search tool that provides live previews and FoxTrot does the
trick. I often have to search thousands of pages of developer references
to find answers and this is the only search program I have found that is
worth keeping open on my desktop."

So I have to go back to version 4.5.2 ?

Same here. Any chance this can be sorted sooner rather than later?
