Hi!
I have the feeling that the indexing of the new files does not work properly. If I move eBooks from the already indexed directory somewhere else, then I see the contents of this moved file unstructured in my next search - like this:

In the settings "Manage Indices" I have activated "Start automatically when starting FoxTrot Pro" and "Store document textual contents"
What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong, that's supposed to happen.
Because you have selected to "Store document textual contents" you are seeing exactly that: but no formatting or graphic content.
If you want to see your files "properly" then move them back to the indexed location.
Don't move your files after you index them. FoxTrot will not go looking for them: you have to tell it where to look.

Thank you for your timely feedback.
But I can do an indexing update, right? If so, then updating the indexing should fix the problem - correct?
Or is the motto "once indexed - always indexed" and a local change of the files must not happen.

Hi, you will always update your index depending on what files are in the specified location.
If you move the files away and then update the index, the index will have no content (if all at the files have been moved) or it will not longer index the files you moved.
If you move the files to another location, make sure that new location is also indexed.
You can change your files as much as you want as long as you don't move them from the place where they are indexed.
I keep my files in the same location, i.e. folder, and I have set my indexes to auto-update that folder (and everything in it) every 24 hours.
I also force the index to update if I add more files (or remove them) and don't want to wait for the auto-indexing.

Thanks for your info.
Now I want to start new ones and create three different indexes.
1) I delete the standard "Main Index" and I create a new index with the title "IndexA.ftindex" under "Manage Indices" and select the storage location for the file "IndexA.ftindex".
2) Under "Manage Indices" -> tab "Indexed Data" I select the folder manually ("+") that is to be indexed.
In the "Manage Indices" settings I see that the status is "Running" and the checkbox "Start automatically when starting FoxTrot Pro" is active and the status on the file is green.
But when I close the "Manage Indices" screen or close the whole programme and start it again, the status bar at the bottom left shows the following:
Status: Idle
Indexed items: 0
Index size: 0 B
Last update -
What am I doing wrong here?
FYI:
- I currently have a total of 15 GB of memory on my MacBookPro SSD hard drive. The total size of the directory that should be indexed is 1.2 GB.
- I don't see the Cog wheel in the status bar that shows that idexing is in progress.

First, double-check the correct folder is actually indexed.
I would check the correct filetypes are selected for indexing.
This is found under Manage Indices, then select the tab "Indexed data."
You then have to click once on the Custom folder, on the left side of the pane. That brings up the options on the right side.
Then check your files aren't blacklisted.
Beyond that, I don't know I can help you.

Miscellaneous improvements: I noticed that on my Mac (Ventura 13.3.1) the setting "Full Disk Access" was not enabled. I nevertheless enabled the "Full Disk Access" function for FoxTrot and the indexing still does not run.
"On macOS 13 Ventura, improves how FoxTrot prompts the user to enable FoxTrot Full Disk Access."
Where do I have to enable something else in the settings?
