Hello, I've just upgraded Maveriks to its last version and now PowerMail
won't startup on launch, leaving "Force Quit Application" the only possible
thing to do.
Is anybody else experiencing the same problem? Any possible solution?

Thank you
Giovanni Andreani

I'm having the same problem, Giovanni!

HELP ME, PM! I upgraded to Mavericks a couple of days ago ... and it was
working fine until this morning (APR 2, 2014) ... when it suddenly crashed
HARD!. Now it either crashes before it opens, or--if it manages to finally
get where it at least *looks* like it's up/running--it crashes the second
you try to access your mail servers to suck mail down. HELP, PM!!

Note: because of this crash, I can't receive email on this account I listed
above/used to sign in with ... so please respond to me either here, or at
mandorstiger«~at~»yahoo«|dot|»com ... thanks!

update on "I'm having the same problem": I managed (with my husband's
expert help) to get this problem successfully resolved, so I wanted to come
back and post about how we did it ... just in case anyone else has had the
same problem.

For the first time in almost 15 years of being a Mac user, something
apparently went REALLY wonky when I installed Mavericks on my laptop ...
causing all sorts of corrupted files to suddenly appear on my hard drive.
In other words, it wasn't just PowerMail I was having a problem with, it
was my Mac OS, too. I just apparently didn't realize it it until it
affected PM.

This is what fixed it:

1) Since--on the few times I was able to get PM to open--it crashed
instantly when I tried to retrieve mail, once I finally managed to get it
to open for me again (after a half-dozen tries) the first thing I did was
turn mail scheduling OFF so that it would stop crashing constantly. Once I
did that, PM stayed on/let me read mail ... but trying to send mail also
made it crash, in addition to trying to retrieve mail.

2) I ran Disc Utility to verify my HD, which is where I found the problem
on my hard drive, sooooooo...

3) I turned PM off, and then I restarted my computer in repair mode (hold
down Command and "R" on the keyboard as it starts back up) and then ran the
Disc Utility again, this time asking it to repair the disc.

3) Once it completed the repairs, I restarted my laptop again, then tried
to reopen PM. It crashed hard the first time, but the second time it
finally opened. Once it did, it gave me a message that my sort indices were
corrupted, too ... and gave me the option to automatically repair them. I
told it "yes" ... and let it do its job.

4) Once PM said it had completed correcting the corrupted files, I tried
retrieving mail again ... and it CRASHED HARD AGAIN!

5) I cussed! '-)

6) I restarted PM again, and--from there--it seems to be working just fine
again. I got a message a bit after I restarted it that it was going to
re-index the sort indices again, which it did ... and now it seems to be
working again.

Just wanted to make a record of what I did ... so that--if you're having a
similar problem--you'll know how to fix it, and where to cuss! :)
