Would be nice if you guys could look into integrating Active Directory users and permissions.

Example would be we have a file server with all of our "Clients" folders that our employees connect to. Problem is certain employees are only granted access to certain client folders within the main folder and they are locked down by permissions per user. Would be nice if we could index the whole folder like normal, but the Foxtrot user connects to the Foxtrot Server via AD user accounts and the index knows what folders they are granted access to and populate results for only those folders within.

As I understand your request, it is not related specifically to Active Directory, but rather to file access permissions in general: filtering out found files located in a folder for which the user does not have read access.

There would be a huge performance issue if FoxTrot checked access for each found file, especially on a network volume; however one possible solution would be to check access for the top level folders only. For example, if your Server is indexing the volume or folder "NAS", and the structure of NAS is the following:
NAS
    Project A
        Technical
        Commercial
    Project B
        Technical
        Commercial
then FoxTrot could check if the user has access to "Project A" or "Project B", and filter out the found files accordingly, but it would not check access for "Technical" or "Commercial", nor any of their subfolders.

Would this be OK for you?

I think that would be enough and would be great if it could do that on the top level. It really is that basic like your example. Just one big folder with a list of Project names or one big folder with a list of Clients/business names. Anything below those doesn't really need to be regulated. You either can work on the project/client or not. That would help out because we have some clients that are like for instance health insurance or medical. This is just an example and not a client of ours, but like for example in the root folder only certain employees are granted access into the "UnitedHealthcare" client folder because of HIPPA concerns. So basically can't have people's Foxtrot searches pulling from it.
