Greetings,

We are pleased to share with members of the foxtrot-search group only
the latest private beta (2.5b5) of FoxTrot Search Server and FoxTrot
Professional Search:

(server & admin)

(client)

Make sure you remove the previous builds before installing this. This
build should resolve the initial setup issues that some of you had.

Instructions on installation can be found at:

This version has been extensively tested, but is NOT PUBLIC - the next
planned release will be public beta.

Please do not discuss your findings on the FoxTrot-Discuss list yet.
An e-mail from you acknowledging receipt would be most welcome, thanks
- unless we hear from you, we are stalled in the process of releasing.

Best regards,

jean michel/ctm qa

Dat,

Metadata, as reported by the MDImporters, are indeed indexed and
searched. Any further feature is only under consideration for version 3,
as 2.5 is feature-frozen and proceeding towards release.

The issue with an index being grayed out and unavailable to search
when manually restarting the index remains. This is with Mac OS X
10.5.8.

An easy way to reproduce this is to stop an index, then start it
again. The index will remain grayed out in the search window until
until you click off the index name then on again in the manage indices
window.

The server version seems to be having more problems with the file
crawlers, as the index is crashing while updating and occasionally can
not be restarted until I quit all the Foxtrot server Admin and end all
of the FTFileCrawler processes. The X server is running Mac OS X
Server 10.5.8.
FT Pro / Server 2.5b6 now available [message #17 is a reply to message #16] Sat, 26 September 2009 08:20 Go to previous messageGo to next message

All,

Thanks for the feedback. We have made some tweaks intended to address
the issues you brought up, would you be so kind as to give them a try
before we go public beta please ?

(server & admin - also now includes test version of Windows server)

(client)

Thanks,

The changes do not seem to have made a difference. Both issues still
occur.
