I used FoxTrot a couple of years ago but then put it aside. Yesterday,
however, I upgraded to FoxTrot Personal 6. Overnight several hundred
thousand files were indexed. I set FoxTrot to index daily at 6 p.m. Upon
quitting and restarting FoxTrot (to see if one of my search categories
would be retained), the indexing process started all over again. This is
surely not normal behavior. Or is there some Preference setting that I am
missing?

I am replying to my own question. Whatever the cause of the "starting
again" indexing, the problem is no longer persisting. Still, if someone
else has seen this behavior--and knows the cause--I'd be keen to hear.
