Outlook for Mac file indexing inconsistent [message #733] Fri, 04 May 2018 14:16

I'm seeing some inconsistent behavior using FT Personal (Version 6.5b2
build 1866) in indexing / searching Outlook for Mac 2016 (v16.11) messages.

As you can see from the attached screen shot, there is no longer a
selection check box for Outlook under Preferences - Files - Predefined
locations. (Outlook used to be a recognized application on that list, but
vanished at some point.) I've tried to add the Outlook 2016 data folder as
a custom location, but that is a hidden directory, so cannot find a way to
navigate to select it from within the dialog box. My workaround was to
select the entire "Library" check box, but that also indexes a lot of
system files and garbage that I don't want. Additionally, this workaround
seems inconsistent n actually finding and indexing the Outlook email -
sometimes those items just vanish from the index. I have experimented with
Update Index Entirely and Rebuild Index, and usually can get the Outlook
mail to show up in the index again, but it will eventually vanish again.
Sometimes I see a different issue, where there are multiple copies of each
message in the index!

Any ideas on how I can clean this up? Outlook indexing is one of the
primary reasons I use FT. Is there a way to re-add Outlook as a known
"predefined location" in the Preferences menu?
Thanks in advance!
