I have about 15 indices. My files are all ~50 –100mb PDFs stored on an external SSD.

My indices live now in my Max’s HD, I think library/ foxtrot

Would my searching be faster if I stored my ftindexes with the PDFs I’m searching in their respective folders on my external ssd? Or should I leave them on the Macs hardrive? Thanks!

The priority is the store the index files on the fastest possible medium, in your case the SSD. So yes, moving the .frindex files will speed up things substantialy forr searching and indexing.

just close the from tge manage indices window, move them to the ssd, and reopen.
