No; RAM is dynamically allocated based on needs and available resources.

FoxTrot 7 (which requires macOS 10.12) has considerably improved indexing performance.

However there are some things you can do to resolve this issue; we are currently refining our online FAQ, but you can check a preliminary version of this question here:

Be sure to read "Make sure your data files are correctly parsed" and "Beware of certain types of PDF documents", as this is probably the cause of your problem.
